Well folks, if you are like me, you have been looking forward to the conclusion of this semester. Please help me finish my first semester as your PSO President by contributing to a strong finish. The proctor sign-up looks pretty good. I’ve seen many of our usual volunteers signed up, and I’m really happy to see some names I don’t recognize. THANK YOU! Whether you have been helping us for a couple of years, or you are a new volunteer, I guarantee you will find proctoring an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Our kids love seeing us on campus.
We have approximately 11 proctors signed up for each day of final exams. We are in need of up to 17 parent volunteer proctors daily during final exam week. Final exams are next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Proctors are needed to administer final exams and collect them when students are finished. Proctors monitor the class and assist students with their needs (for example, handing out additional pencils and tissues). That’s it! This greatly assists our teachers by affording them the time to correct the exams and submit the grades in a timely manner. Additionally, it gives them time to start their narrative evaluations for student progress reports so that they can enjoy their holiday break. Proctoring for our teachers is easy, fun, and truly a gift to our valuable teachers. This is our FINAL PLEA and we really could use more help! Please sign up HERE.
The PSO will be selling Zella’s pizza and Grabbagreen’s fruit smoothies next week during the final exam break. Pizza will be available on Monday and Wednesday for $2 a slice during the final exam break. On Tuesday, smoothies will be available for $2, and smoothies with a piece of fruit will be $3. Send a bit of cash with your kids and let’s keep them nourished for these finals!
Speaking of nourishment, please consider signing up to help with lunch in January. I know we are all trying to wrap up this year and that next year seems like a concern for next year, but the sign up is rather blank! Please sign up here.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to Tracy Vickery’s Teacher Appreciation holiday gift card drive. The generous outpouring was overwhelming! Please also remember that the teacher wishlists are available in the office if you would like to treat your teachers to something else.
Looking forward to next year, our next PSO general meeting will be on Wednesday, January 17th after morning drop off. We will be discussing next semester’s calendar, events, fundraising, recruitment of new volunteers, and any other issues you would like to discuss. We would love to hear your ideas and help you implement them. If you would like to be a part of this decision-making process, show up.
Please remember that in order to volunteer at school, you must have been fingerprinted and cleared. It may take several weeks to get cleared so please do this if you plan on volunteering at school anytime during this year. There will be a fingerprinting session here at the Lincoln campus on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 10:30-12:30. Additional fingerprinting information can be found on our ‘Volunteer’ page.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I wish all of your kids great success on next week’s final exams!
